The Midwest Nationals make the most of five hits in 3-2 victory over Collierville Dragons

The Midwest Nationals and Collierville both had chances on Monday, but it was the Midwest Nationals that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-2 win.

Collierville got six hits compared with just five for the Midwest Nationals, but the Dragons stranded eight on base.

Johnny Eierman racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Midwest Nationals. Eierman doubled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Collierville was led by a flawless day at the dish by their clean-up hitter, who went 3-3 against the Midwest Nationals‘ pitching. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Tyler Spoon was superb in relief, pitching two scoreless innings while collecting three strikeouts and allowing two walks and two hits.

The Midwest Nationals jump on Satchel Paige All-Stars early and coast to 15-1 win

The Midwest Nationals jumped out to an early lead on Satchel Paige All-Stars and captured a 15-1 victory on Monday.

With six runs in the first three innings, the Midwest Nationals left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A passed ball, an RBI single by Spencer Johnson, a fielder’s choice, an RBI double by Corey Hassel, and an RBI double by Luke Gibbs in the first inning supplied the early offense for the Midwest Nationals.

Johnson racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Midwest Nationals.

Gage Jacobs allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out three.

The Midwest Nationals fall to D-Bat mustangs 5-4 in spite of Williams’ performance

July 13, 2011 at Northern Kentucky – Highland Heights, KY

Breckin Williams had a good game at the plate, but the Midwest Nationals still fell to D-Bat mustangs 5-4 in seven innings on Wednesday at Northern Kentucky.

The Midwest Nationals‘ Williams was perfect at the dish, going 2-2. Williams singled in the second and sixth innings.

Austin Duerr kept D-Bat mustangs off balance while he was on the rubber. Duerr held D-Bat mustangs hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none.

D-Bat mustangs was paced by the production of their 2-hole hitter, who reached base two times. He scored two runs, had one RBI, and tripled in the first inning.

Corey Hassel kept the ball around the plate, throwing strikes on 58 of his 87 pitches. Hassel struck out five and walked two for the Midwest Nationals.

Midwest Nationals outmuscled by Cincy Flames, 13-5

Despite a big day at the dish from Johnny Eierman, who finished 2-2, the Midwest Nationals lost 13-5 to Cincy Flames at Northern Kentucky on Wednesday.

Cincy Flames 2-hole hitter got a hit in each of his two at bats, he singled in the first and fourth innings.

Cincy Flames’ top 3 hitters combined for three hits and five RBIs.

The Midwest Nationals fall to Rawlings Prospects Reed 4-1 in spite of O’Brien’s performance

July 9, 2011 at Baum Stadium – Fayetteville, AR

Cameron O’Brien had a good game at the plate, but the Midwest Nationals still fell to Rawlings Prospects Reed 4-1 in seven innings on Saturday at Baum Stadium.

O’Brien got on base two times in the game for the Midwest Nationals. O’Brien singled in the fourth inning.

Rawlings Prospects Reed was paced by the production of the 2-hole hitter, who reached base three times, he singled in the fourth and seventh innings.

The Midwest Nationals cruise past Houston Heat, 6-0

July 8, 2011 at Baum Stadium – Fayetteville, AR

Houston Heat didn’t stand a chance on Friday, as the Midwest Nationals captured a blowout 6-0 win in seven innings at Baum.

The Midwest Nationals were paced by the production of Tyler Spoon, who reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. Spoon tripled in the first inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Houston Heat wasn’t able to score a run off of Jake Nelson during his six innings on the rubber. Nelson struck out seven and allowed one walk and three hits.

Austin Duerr threw one inning of scoreless ball for the Midwest Nationals.

Cameron O’Brien, Spoon, Luke Gibbs, Johnny Eierman, Corey Hassel, and Spencer Johnson all collected hits for the Midwest Nationals. Hassel led the team with two hits.

Early lead gives the Midwest Nationals easy victory over Building Champions, 9-0

July 8, 2011 at Fayetteville High School – Fayetteville, AR

The Midwest Nationals shut the door early on Building Champions, capturing a 9-0 victory on Friday at Fayetteville High School.

The game was decided quickly as the Midwest Nationals exerted their will early with eight runs in the first three innings.

A groundout by Johnny Eierman in the first inning and an RBI double by Cameron O’Brien and an RBI double by Chris Quesada in the second inning helped the Midwest Nationals put some runs on the board early.

Quesada racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Midwest Nationals.

Building Champions couldn’t get anything going so long as Alex Wise toed the rubber. Building Champions managed just two hits off of the the Midwest Nationals‘ pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out five during his four innings of work.

Austin Tribby threw one inning of scoreless ball for the Midwest Nationals.

The Midwest Nationals take out the Mac-N-Seitz Indians with help from Eierman, 4-3

July 7, 2011 at Tyson Fields – Springdale, AR

Johnny Eierman hit a home run and drove in one runner to help the Midwest Nationals to a 4-3 victory in eight innings over the Mac-N-Seitz Indians on Thursday at Tyson.

Tyler Spoon threw one inning of scoreless ball for the Midwest Nationals.

Corey Hassel showed good command, throwing strikes on 45 of his 65 pitches. Hassel struck out five and walked none for the Midwest Nationals.
