Gruener helps the Nationals 17U Scout down Rawlings Prospects 10-7

Evan Gruener had two extra base hits, helping the Nationals 17U Scout to a 10-7 victory over Rawlings Prospects on Saturday at Joplin, Missouri.
He tripled in the second and fifth innings.
Drew Bridges recorded the win for the Nationals 17U Scout. He allowed two runs over two innings. Bridges struck out one, walked one and gave up three hits.
In the bottom of the first, the Nationals 17U Scout grabbed the early lead, 2-0. The Nationals 17U Scout attack began with a single from Trevor Crone. Winston Rasmussen singled, scoring Brad Jelinek and Crone.
The Nationals 17U Scout never trailed after scoring four runs in the second on an error and a three-run triple by Gruener.
One run in the top of the third helped Rawlings Prospects close its deficit to 6-3. A sacrifice fly by Dilday gave Rawlings Prospects life. The Nationals 17U Scout stopped the rally after Will Ginger got Benes to fly out.
One run in the top of the fourth helped Rawlings Prospects close its deficit to 6-4. An RBI single by Jasiek sparked Rawlings Prospects’ rally. The Rawlings Prospects threat came to an end when Ginger finally got Hansen to fly out.
The Nationals 17U Scout added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Will Harris singled, scoring Gruener to kick things off. That was followed up by Nathan Strobel‘s single, bringing home Harris.
Three runs in the top of the sixth helped St Louis prospects close its deficit to 10-7. A two-run double by Jasiek and an RBI single by Hansen set off Rawlings Prospects rally. Finally, Ginger got Dyszlewski to to end the threat.
